When Jennifer Lehman drove down the road in January 2009, choosing the right rehabilitation was the last thing on her mind. Little did she know it would end up being one of the most important decisions she would make.
As an unrestrained driver, she suffered multiple lacerations and a brain injury when an accident caused her vehicle to overturn multiple times. She suffered vision, speech and memory difficulties as well as weakness in her legs that limited her ability to walk. At her family’s request, Jennifer was transferred to Mid America Rehabilitation Hospital to focus on regaining those activities she so desperately desired.
Choosing Mid America ended up being the right choice for Jennifer. As a patient of the brain injury program, she received the advanced care – speech, occupational and physical therapy – she needed to recover. Learning the power of touch first hand, Jennifer chose to give back to others, and is now a massage therapist.
